Hard Times - John Legend & The Roots
That’s right we’re going a little more mainstream today. Everyone’s heard of John Legend and they’ve also heard of the Roots, yet the average human still probably hasn’t gotten around to checking out their collaboration “Wake Up Everybody!”. This is a mistake. Take “Hard Times” for instance. The Roots impeccable rhythm section drives a choppy horn section while Legend croons soulfully over the top. Then MC Black Thought breaks it all down and the song explodes into the stratosphere. Proof that all music sounds better when played by real musicians instead of computers.
